“THE FOLLOWING IS JUST ONE THING TO DO TO BE SUCCESSFUL ON EBAY….. AND STAY THAT WAY!”

Testing Products for eBay

It is an absolute, that “Testing Products for eBay“, will become a second nature when you are offering items that are less than “Brand New“.  “Testing Products for eBay” should always be done when offering:

  • Used Items
  • New items that are taken out of the Package or Box (unboxed)
  • Boxes or Packages that are Opened and/or Damaged
  • All Opened Electronic or Electrical Items.

When we used to make purchases from LIQUIDATION COMPANIES like:

We damn near had to test every item that came on the Pallets that we purchased.  It all depended on what was in the Boxes or on the Pallet. Beware of buying Pallets with “Inflatables“.  Inflatables are definitely a “Hit and Miss” item.   You think you’ve gotten a deal on several “Rafts” and “Inflatable Jumpers“, think again, because there are “NO RETURNS” at this level of business.

So “Buyer Beware“!  Sometimes, when buying from companies like these, you are, most likely, not going to buy just 1 Unit.  You will be buying Boxes of Products, Pallets of Products, or maybe even a Shipping Container full of Products.

Don’t Stop Testing

Remember, you will be “Testing Products for eBay“, so don’t get discouraged.

To get the best bang for your buck, you will have to buy in larger “Bulk Quantities” and purchase items from within the categories of “Shelf Pulled or Discontinued Items“. Why you say?  Well, these Categories will contain:

  • New Items” that the Store no longer carries, therefore, Discontinued, or
  • The Store is Overstocked with these items, therefore, Shelf Pulled or Pulled from the Shelf.

Sometimes, these “New Items are Pulled simply because the box has a little hole in it or the package is very slightly torn or dirty.  It could be the smallest thing. A lot of Retailers are starting to use Giant “Trash Compactors” to crush these types of items, to keep them away from “Dumpster Divers“.

A Very Short Story

We’ve always found lots of goodies on our “Rite Aid Boxed Pallets“.  These were very thick Boxes attached to Pallets.  These Boxes were full of Products.  The Products  were thrown in there from Rite Aid Pharmacy Drug Store Chain and sometimes “Target” and “CVS“. We’d always find at least 1 Wheelchair in each Rite Aid Box.

This “Liquidation Box”  costs us about $250 BTW, but we’d sell the Wheelchairs for $100 each (after testing) and still had a possible multiple hundreds of products to sift through.  We’d buy a Pallet or 2 and toss the goodies into the back of my 1991, Red and White, 2 Door, X-Tra Cab, with a Cold Ass AC, Ford F-150, and go about our way.  So, if you want to make “Accurate Descriptions” and be honest in your descriptions, you absolutely must test your items before listing them.  After testing them, you can make honest descriptions by adding words and phrases like:

  • Tested Working
  • Refurbished
  • New out of the Box
  • New with/without Tags
  • Missing Knob
  • For Parts Only
  • Needs a Handle
  • Brand New iPhone, Screen Crack, Tested Working
  • and so on

In Conclusion

Whatever the case, you’re still gonna sell it “as is” anyway.  Believe me, you do not want people complaining. SO TEST YOUR MERCHANDISE!

There you have it.  Keep it simple, take your time and learn as you go.

I hope this post on “HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL ON EBAY WITH ADVICE ON TESTING PRODUCTS FOR EBAY”, has pointed you into the right direction!
