How To Dominate eBay As A Beginner

How to Dominate eBay as a Beginner, well let’s get right down to it.  I’m not going to overwhelm you with 5000 Tips.  This is about How to Dominate eBay when you’re  just starting out. As you may have already guessed, or you may already know, eBay is jammed Packed with Competition.  Sellers, like myself, have been around Decades.  A lot of beginners begin to wonder “How will I ever be Seen“?  Well I’m here to tell you that, you can be Seen, and where you start doesn’t matter.

The Best Time to Start Selling on eBay is Right Now!

That’s right!  Where you start does not matter.  There are Sellers who have been around for 10 years and have yet to gross $1,000.  There are others who have been here for 1 Week, and have already surpassed that Number.  It depends on what you sell, the price you sell it for and how often do you make sales.

I always say that it depends on what you want to do (What’s Your Business Model). Some people want to run a Full-Time Business on eBay and some want to run one on a Part-Time Basis.  Others just sell to “Make Extra Money” or to do some “Decluttering“.   Whatever your goal is, it can be achieved!

Concerning the Tips to Dominate eBay

Below I have some very, very “Basic Tips” for you to follow.  Following these Tips WILL make you be seen, will make you be heard and absolutely put you on the path to eBay Success!  These Tips are already mentioned in some of my other Posts in whole or in part.  The following is my best advice for the beginner and my other Posts will guide you along the way.

How to Dominate eBay as a Beginner – The Tips

How to Dominate eBay Tip #1 – Be honest in all of your Auction Listings.  When you List an Item, always give a “Clear Description” of what you are offering.  Be very descriptive and do not exaggerate (lie).  Your Buyers will see right through the Ad Copy and you will not get any Sales.  Just always be as honest as you can be.  Bottom line is that your want your Feedback to say something like; Honest Seller, Ships Fast, Item as Described, along those lines.  Reference:

How to Dominate eBay Tip #2 – Always try to get Positive Feedback.  Getting Positive Feedback is probably the 2nd most important thing that you can do when you are just starting out.  It doesn’t matter what you’re selling or how low your selling price is.  If we see a “Zero Feedback“, we will most likely, not buy from you.

So your goal is to build up your “Feedback Score” before trying to offer items on a more steady basis. To build up your Feedback Score, you can start by selling items around you house or you can even make purchases from ebay itself.

The easiest Category to go to is “Everything Else“, then click on “eBay Seller Tools“.  You can purchase items from $ .01 – $.99 and receive Positive Feedback all day long.

You could also purchase items, on the cheap, From Sites like Aliexpress and it’s Parent Company Alibaba.  At Aliexpress, the best way to offer these items on eBay is to make the purchase and have the items shipped to you before posting on eBay.  Alibaba is excellent for Wholesale and Private Labeling while Aliexpress is best for Wholesaling and Dropshipping Sources.  With that said, you can still purchase on the cheap,  resell the items and receive Positive Feedback!  Reference:

How to Dominate eBay Tip #3 – Don’t get into Confrontations.  There will be a time when that occasional Buyer comes around and just complains about everything.  There’s really nothing you can do about it but remain calm.  This person will make a purchase and then give you headaches afterwards. Your goal is to remain calm, diffuse the situation, and end the Transaction WITHOUT you receiving a Negative Feedback Score and Comment

The worst thing you can do is leave THE BUYER a Negative Feedback and Comment before they have left a comment for you.  If they don’t leave you a comment, DON’T ASK FOR ONE EITHER! If someone wins an Auction and doesn’t pay, just go through the process and then Relist the item when it’s time.  I know it can be frustrating, but you just have to keep going.

Why Should I Avoid Negative Feedback?

Sometimes, no matter how good of a description is, someone will always want a refund because an item was too small (even though you put the measurements and sizes in the description).  Just brush your shoulders off and keep it moving.  The main thing that you do not want here is NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. That’s the bottom line.

Later, when you’ve become successful, you’ll know when that Negative Feedback will not hurt you, then you can voice your opinions if you want. Personally, I’d just refund them the money, when I receive the item back in the condition as I sent it out, if it’s worth it for me to continue and resell the item.  Most of the time I’ll just give them a discount and say, refund the shipping amount.  It all depends on the bottom line between breaking even and making a small profit.

How to Dominate eBay Tip #4 – Start selling Multiples of the same item.  What I mean by this is this…. As soon as you’ve reached a comfortable Feedback Rating, start implementing a plan where you’d offer the same item.  As an example; Hmmmm.  Okay, Biker Rings, Stainless Steel.  So a search on eBay or Aliexpress for something like, Men’s Goth or Biker Rings.  You can easily get these items in Bulk for less than $1 each and resell from $5 – $40 each.

It all depends, As you build your Feedback Rating, save your money for your Wholesale Purchases.  Every Wholesale Source is not good for everyone.  You have to find one that feels good to YOU!  Some Sources you have to join into, others are free.  I’d recommend that you try them both.  Sometimes, you get what you’ve paid for and sometimes it works out.  Reference:

How to Dominate eBay Tip #5 – Research, research, research.  I cannot stress this enough.  Do as much research as you need to do on a particular Source and Product. Find out what’s Trending, what the Buyers are searching for and where can you get those items.  It may get frustrating but hang in there.

Research can really be a pain at times, but when that light comes on in your head, you’ll feel real good about it.  I still go through the same process.  Just in writing this Blog I have to do research to find the right Keywords so that people like yourself can find it.  I have to research Titles to get you to stop and read;  Descriptions to get you to continue to read;  Research Ad Copy so I will not bore you to death.  I have to …. anyway, this is not about me, so  I’ll just say this.  Research everything!

Research; The Product, Vendor, Price, Auction Type, and if the item is selling or not. (Remember the “Spinner”?  Very hot when it hit the Market, now it’s not)  P.S. – Stay on top of the Trends or find you a Niche Category.  I am personally involved in the Niches of Clothing and Jewelry.  I also have an eBay Account that sells every other thing.  So I have Niche Accounts and Non Niche Accounts That’s it!  So hopefully after following these 5 Tips on How to Dominate eBay as a Beginner,  you also will be able to “CRUSH THE COMPETITION“!
